2U Servers occupy two rack units, or 3.5 inches in height, and strike a balance between scalability, performance and expandability. While retaining a compact design, these systems can support up to three full-height, or seven low-profile PCIe expansion cards making them ideal for custom hardware integration, gpu acceleration, data acquisition and network appliances. These systems range anywhere from extremely short-depth mini servers, all the way up to 12 hot-swap bay models for high-capacity storage. These systems are commonly used for video surveillance, file servers, database management, and cloud computing. If multiple full-height or dual slot PCIe cards are needed for your project, or a quiet server is needed for your environment, a 3U or 4U server may be a better fit for your project.
